CAPTAINS
CHOICE PILOT SEAT
This is not the
usual, narrow fitting, totally unsuitable, car rally seat substitute as
often used by many cockpit builders. This is a dedicated, properly
constructed, wide fitting, Pilots style seat, as you would expect to
find in a real helicopter or light aircraft.
The seat is mounted on
a powder coated steel frame with built in fittings to directly attach
our standard floor frame as supplied with all existing SIMCONTROL MRVC
COPYCAT or RANGER 5s control systems. The seat back rest can be removed
from its built in sockets to lower its overall height. The floor spine
that carries the pedals can also be removed to shorten the overall
length for easy transport or storage. (No tools are required for removal
or fitting)
The frame has been
designed to provide a very
useful open space below the seat base. The fully upholstered seat base lifts off the frame
to allow access to this space that is large enough to accommodate one of
our complete RANGER 5s Helicopter control systems or alternatively this
area can be used to fit a suitable speaker system, or one of the latest
small case computers.
This seat module is exceptionally
robust and was originally designed as part of a range of total
simulation consoles supplied to meet the requirements specified by Royal
Air Force training establishments throughout the UK. Three of these seat
modals fitted together with all the appropriate built in controls are
now used by the UK Met Police
for helicopter aircrew interactive training simulations.
Although
primarily designed to integrate directly
with our range of control options, the seat module is the
ideal addition to the serious virtual pilots cockpit system, even if you
don't want to add our controls. It can be supplied ready to use as a stand-alone unit,
to form the ideal central
structure for your own DIY cockpit project allowing you to have a solid
base to attach other panels and fittings to take controls of your
choice, or that you already have.
The photos below show
the seat frame fitted with our RANGER5s control system with 206 engine
management controls and oil displacement pedals options. The seat frame
is supplied ready to attach any of our existing control sets, including
our very popular MRVC Long- Shaft system.
