The Original Copy Cat control console was developed to fill a gap in light aircraft training that is not so evident in other types of flight instruction. In commercial and military flight training, it has long been accepted that time spent in flight simulator systems plays a valuable part in all levels of tuition and practice. This is fine for those areas of training, but almost all light aircraft pilots have had to spend all of their PPL practice time paying for hands on in real aircraft without having the advantages that come from access to a suitable simulator. Primarily this situation has prevailed for two main reasons:
EXPENSE(Commercial and military simulators cost huge sums of money and although a small selection of light aircraft simulators have always been available, unlike the big state of the art boxes, most tend to have been around for some time and are often bulky, complicated, and very limited in operational and up-dateable electronic facilities. Consequently, few flying schools have been able to justify the cost and operational problems of installing one.)
NO ALTERNATIVES ( Until recently it has been impossible to build a high quality professionally constructed simulator system for private pilot training with an affordable price tag.) THIS SITUATION HAS NOW CHANGED FOREVER As a result of the rapid and almost unbelievable development in computer technology during the last decade, all areas of tuition and learning, including flight training and instruction will undergo changes undreamed of before. Many traditional teaching methods will, at the very least, have to make way for some changes, and in many cases be prepared for the introduction totally new ways to impart physical and mental skills to those of us who want to learn.
HOW DO POWERFUL COMPUTERS MAKE LOW PRICED SIMULATORS? Simulators large or small have, traditionally used real instruments specially modified and hard wired into lots of complicated analogue interfaces and relays connected to comparatively basic computers and often equally basic visual displays. This has always kept the price tag to high for most of the light aircraft industry. Todays off the shelf PC has more than enough processing power to not only take over the job of all those analogue instruments, and hard wiring and do it more accurately, but with a little help from its dedicated graphics card, has plenty left over to give a pretty good visual imitation of the outside world, and the big difference is, all this can be achieved at a small fraction of the price.
The Copy Cat M.R.V.C control system is a direct development of the original console system as illustrated above. Its introduction has opened the door to a high level inexpensive simulation for anyone involved in light aircraft, helicopter, or MICROLITE PILOT TRAINING as well as providing more enjoyment for the home user.
Because the Copy Cat Console was the first affordable system we also had enthusiasts, that for varied reasons have no intention of ever flying real aircraft, but who purchased the system so that their simulated flying would be closer to reality than that achieved by any of the off-the-shelf game type controls.
OUR CUSTOMERS range from private pilots who want to run instrument training software at home or just keep in practice with general handling procedures using our controls, to commercial training establishments such as Bailbrook Collage, the R A F, Army and Police helicopter support establishments, and private flying schools using custom integrated versions of our system including HELICOPTER DUAL CONTROL
